Field Hockey Playing Through Hard TimesFriday, October 23, 2009 By Lauren Gaudio, Mark Ronchetti
The Field Hockey team has had a break-through. In their physical game against Bridgeton, Sacred Heart tied in sudden death overtime 2-2. Goals were scored by sophomores, Jocelyn Cintron and Courtney Fralic. The team then played their rival Vineland High. After a tough game, the girls lost 4-1. The lone goal was scored by junior, Clarissa Hayes. On October 6, the field hockey team played Middle Township. Sacred Heart lost, with a final score of 3-0. However, the team has made excellent progress. During their last game against Middle, they lost 8-0. After losing their original goalie Nicole Challari, sophomore Rebecca Slim has assumed the position. Also, sophomore Brandi Smith suddenly left the team, and the girls are now playing with no subs. This past Sunday, the team traveled to Drexel University to see the field hockey game against James Madison. Drexel is ranked 12 th in the nation, and it was a good learning experience for the girls. |
