Foreign Exchange Student: KarenWednesday, November 18, 2009 By Joel De Anda
Karen Henriksen Karen Henriksen is one of our foreign exchange students from Denmark. Karen-Marie is a vegetarian and favorite food from Denmark is Rugbrød, brown sourdough bread. One of her favorite American foods is french fries. Karen-Marie mentioned that the combination of peanut butter and jelly does not appeal to her taste buds. She decided to become a foreign exchange student last summer because she wanted to go to America, and take a year off the European school system. Her school picks the classes for the students so a group of students have the same classes with each other for the rest of the year. Each of the classes last for an hour with a fifteen minute breaks between each class. Karen-Marie speaks five different languages: English, Danish, Swedish, German, and Norwegian. She is starting to learn another language, Spanish. Currently Karen-Marie is in the Cross Country team and haves to join the basketball, swimming, and track. One of the strangest experiences Karen-Marie has had in the United States, other than tasting peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, is that after a long practice in cross country her arms were sore and her legs were not! |
