Teague's Annual Christmas ConcertTuesday, December 15, 2009 By Natalie Yeaman
On December 14th, numerous citizens of Teague filled the high school auditorium to listen to the annual Christmas Concert. The Concert began at 6:00 pm, and featured sixth grade, seventh grade, eighth grade, and the high school bands. The sixth grade band preformed Beethoven’s Ninth , Somewhere In My Memory (Feature Film Home Alone) , and First Rockin’ Christmas . The seventh grade band performed Joyful and Triumphant , Dance of the Reed Flutes , and Feliz Navidad . The eighth grade performed A Christmas Proclamation (A Holiday Flourish for Band) , Carols of Joy , and The Santa of Seville , and the high school band performed Latin Bell Carol , The Polar Express , The Bells of Christmas , and Ballet Music from Faust . Assistant director Weston Fisher directed the seventh and eighth grade bands, and head director Carrie Martin directed the sixth grade and high school bands. Towards the end of the concert, the directors were presented with gift cards from the Band Council. “A lot has happened this year, and the band has endured many complications. Mrs. Martin and Mr. Fisher have worked hard and been patient and considerate. I greatly appreciate their support, and I know the band does as well. Giving them a Christmas present was the least we could do,” said Band Council President Rosa Garcia. Each band performed their music extremely well, and both band directors agreed that the Christmas Concert was a huge success. “We could not be more proud of our Teague Lion Band students at the Christmas Concerts. They looked extremely professional and sounded the best they have all semester!” said assistant director Weston Fisher. |
