Girls roundup

“My whole season was very memorable,” said senior Maraskeshi Brown. Maraskeshi said, “It is just like the great Michael Jordan’s saying, ‘Talent wins games but teamwork and intelligence wins championships.’” The titans finished out the season with a record of 7-15. “Next year I hope the team keeps working hard and keeps being positive,” added Maraskeshi. “Ever since I was in ninth grade Coach Parsons has been saying we are going to turn this program around, it took four years but we got there,” said Maraskeshi.         The Titans made history this year when they had a three game winning streak. “I think the season went well because we worked as a team and became a family,” said freshman CeCe Murphy.         The Titans also won their first conference game in the conference tournament against James Kenan.  The girls were taken out of the conference by the Pender Patriots who went on to win the conference Tournament.          For the second time in history, the Titan girls made state play-offs.  Unfortunately, they lost to South Robeson in the first round. The final score of that game was 61-47.         “My final words about basketball are I am going to miss my teammates and the coach of course,” said Maraskeshi. The Titans are fortunate that they are only losing two seniors, but those two seniors were a big part of Titan basketball.
