Roseville High School’s varsity softball team hopes to improve from last year’s 16-10 record and being one game away from the playoffs. The Lady Tigers hope to win the Sierra Foothill League and advance to playoffs as well. “We want to win the SFL. We should hang with all the teams in the league,” said junior third basemen Alexi Johnson. “We really want to beat Del Oro and Woodcreek this year, because they are our rivals and it’s always good to beet them.” The Lady Tigers are very young this year with only two returning seniors, Emily Wagner-Davis and Jaycie Speck. Junior Gabriella Gonzales feels the team is stronger this year. “We have a very strong defense, we just need to work on our hitting,” said Gonzales. Last week the Lady Tigers scrimmaged against Antelope High School and Whitney High School. “We played good against Whitney,” said Johnson. “They didn’t score in three innings.” The Lady Tigers finalized their team last Friday and also decided on team captains. Due to the rainy weather last week, the girls practiced in the small gym and did what they could without field use. |
