Alice in Wonderland Review

Tuesday, March 09, 2010 By Laura Pica

Producer Tim Burton does it again, creating yet another imaginative film, only this time he revives Walt Disney’s fifty-nine year old Alice in Wonderland and Lewis Carrol’s classic, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, and adds his own unique twist, as well as, his singular style.     Brought together for another collaboration of Burton’s works, actor and actress Johnny Depp and Helena Carter are able to pull off the producer’s liberties and changes made to the original storyline quite successfully. The story of a young daydreamer by the name of Alice enters a fantasy world, filled with talking flowers, growing and shrinking potions, as well as treacherous dragons. Thinking it’s only another one of her “kooky” dreams, Alice soon finds out that this dream world might not be as make believe as she had thought and the only way to leave is to save her new friends and her “wonderland.”     The vibrant colors and abstract images all wrapped together, and of course, enhanced by 3-D, calls for a more than satisfying, aesthetically pleasing production. Viewers can be assured that Burton has not lost his “eccentric” touch, making Alice in Wonderland one of his most memorable films yet.
