YMCA Imagine fundraiser supports student programs

The YMCA of the Foothills is hosting its annual Imagine Campaign. The goal this year is to raise $450,000 to help fund for its programs. The Crescenta Ca ñ ada and Verdugo Hills YMCA invite local residents to give monetary donations to the local YMCA. Donations from the residents of La Crescenta, La Canada, and Verdugo Hills will help finance YMCA programs for families of any financial status. Such programs include child care, various camps, and youth programs. In addition, the money raised from this event will aid physical education and art courses for young students in the nearby neighborhoods. Part of the money gained from this event will provide scholarships for young members in teen leadership programs including Progressive Individual Leadership of Teens, Youth and Government, and Model United Nations. "I feel thankful for any fundraising events from the YMCA because some people need financial aid and it is uncomfortable at times to ask your parents for a large sum of money for a single trip, especially at a time like this," said PILOT member sophomore James Kang. Although numerous volunteer opportunities are given to youths in exchange for monetary payments, the programs are still costly. Programs such as Youth and Government start with a $1000 bill but are able to be paid off through various volunteer works such as Tree Lot and Y-dances. However, with the money raised from the Imagine Campaign, students can reduce their payments, leaving fewer burdens to their parents while enjoying the benefits that the program provides. The YMCA of the Foothills created an easy way for anyone to make a small or large donation through the Internet. The home page of the YMCA of the Foothills shows a link to the donation site under the donation tab. With a few more helping hands from the community, the goal of $450,000 can be achieved.
