Heide Trask gives the word “dirty” a new definition-Discover, Investigate, Research, Try it, You’ll like it.  Trask’s Science Olympiad Team wore their “dirty” shirts to their regional competition, held at UNCW on Saturday, March 13 th . The team placed 11 th overall out of the thirteen schools that attended.     “We were really shocked even though we prepared a lot more this year,” Senior Stephanie Chizmar said. “The test was a lot harder, too,” Chizmar added.     In the individual events, juniors Brandon Szakasits and Emily Canady placed second in Dynamic Planet. Seniors Stephanie Chizmar and Lisa Trusler placed third in Disease Detection and sophomores Amie Trusler and Rachel Powell placed fifth in ornithology.     “The ornithology group did really well because they didn’t have much time to prepare and study,” said Jessica Croson, one of the advisors for the team.     Although the team last year, consisting of mostly upperclassmen, placed 8 th ; 11 th place was an accomplishment for the young team, primarily made up of underclassmen, who have an additional year to prepare, practice and gain experience before the next competition.
