Before the internet became popular, people had to go to a store or a machine to purchase a newspaper, to get the news. Now people just look online. When you are in a hurry, the internet comes in handy for quick updates. It gives direct links to specific subjects and you do not have to wait in line for other people to get a newspaper. Once you are done with what you wanted to do on the internet, you can just close the webpage and turn off your computer; you do not have to worry about where you are going to stash all of your old newspapers. Another thing that is common on the internet is books. An individual could buy a book from websites like Amazon.com/books, Borders.com Alibris.com . Some websites will a mail the book that you bought to you, while others will let you download it to a portable device like your laptop or the Kindle from Amazon.com. Books.google.com, http://onlinebooks.library.upenn.edu/are some of the many websites that will let you search through a huge online library, and after you find a specific book, you will be able to read it free. Some of the titles they offer are The Sad Shepherd: A Christmas Story, A Knight Of Spain, They also offers magazines, poetry, philosophical books, economic books, short stories and many other genres. For those who do not have access to the internet the newspaper is a good alterative. Newspapers are common making them easy to get or use. Another advantage of the newspaper is that they are extremely versatile meaning they can be taken just about anywhere. The newspaper comes with a free comic strip, a crossword, an obituary, job offers. The ads in the newspaper can be examined at your leisure. Sometimes the newspaper comes with free coupons for local businesses, or even for some big companies like Wal-Mart. Reading books is a great way to increase one’s vocabulary. Reading can help you pass time if you are going on a long trip, whether you are flying, driving or sailing. If there is a book around there is potential for lots of entertainment. Books can be taken anywhere. Internet is not necessary for reading a book. Also, a print book could be re-read until it falls out of the spine encasing it, whereas if you tried to do that using your computer, you would probably ruin your eyes before you break the computer.
