The Scarlet Letter

NHS Members Honored

Friday, May 21, 2004 By Katharine Hickey

Central High School has a strong National Honors Society Program, with thirty-three new members inducted just last December. To join National Honors Society, a student needs at least a 93% grade point average (GPA) in his or her junior and senior year, as well as twenty hours of community service. NHS members are also required to participate in 2 group projects each year. This year, Central students made small gifts for patients at Morrison’s Cove Nursing Home. On Friday, May 14th, our NHS members, their families, and CHS staff celebrated at the annual NHS banquet. Following the banquet, guest speaker, Mr. Robert Donaldson of the State Attorney Generals Office, addressed the group. In addition, new members were honored with pins. This year, Central High School’s National Honor Society included forty seniors and twenty-four juniors. Mr. Aaron Hileman, Math Teacher at Central, advises NHS.
