Live For the GameThursday, May 06, 2010 By Stacey Kyne
After losing many seniors these past two-year the girl’s varsity softball team is trying to re-gain its title. “Everyone is expecting us not to be as successful as we have in the past,” says, senior, Megan Duerlinger. This underdog team is lead by seven seniors: Ashleigh Sagat, Tori Kilps, Stephanie Kilps, Kaitlin Richard, Maria Paccaghan ,Jessie Scherz and Megan. The team’s goals for this year are to have fun, work together, build a strong chemistry that will take them far, and to be confident in themselves. To strengthen their team bond, they have prayer meetings before every game and they spend a lot of time together during the summer for tournaments. Megan says that their biggest competition is themselves and their spectators. “As long as we keep the newspapers and other opinions out of our heads, I think we will go very far with our talent and team connection.” The best advice given to the girls was from Coach T-Bone who says, “Play smart softball, and be confident.” Since our team is young, Megan added, “This (Coach T-Bone’s advice) is the most important advice to us. After all, 90% of the game is mental.” Schedule May 6 @ Whitnal May 7 Greendale May 10 @ Greenfield May 18 Pewaukee May 20 New Berlin West |
