This seasons hard working seniors are striving to go far this year. With the help of Coach Chronister, the team is running and keeping in shape after school. There are three returning seniors in the boys division: Danny Bone, Brad Chronister, and Robert Monroe. This is Dannys third year. He’s been a member his freshman, sophomore, and senior year. “I almost logged double-digit miles this summer.” said Bone. Brad went to sectionals last year, and missed going to state by two people. He has been running for all four years of high school. “I suck this year since I didn’t run this summer,” said Chronister. He was just planning on playing basketball, but decided to do both. In the girls division, the seniors include: Courtni Kilmer and Jenny Hillis. Kourtni has played for four years. “You really have to have self-motivation to run, it’s not just a team thing,” said Kilmer. On the other hand, it is Jenny’s first year on cross country. “I played tennis for three years, but i decided to run to be in better shape for basketball season,” said Hillis. Practices range from 3-4:30 after schools. For a while, the boys had to practice at 5:30 in morning but that is only occasionally now. Practices consist of running around town on routes and up and down hills. Kilmer mentioned running one-mile intervals three times. |
