The Wick
Late To ClassWednesday, January 05, 2011 By Maureen Dunbar
Many of us find ourself late to class more than often, even when were not goofing off or socializing in the hall ways. Should passing periods being longer? The punishment of being late to class late is the dreaded JUG around Fenwick. I think that almost another hour at school just sitting there wasting time is an unfair punishment for being a minute or even thirty seconds late to class. If we took a couple minutes out of our class periods to put into the passing period, maybe than everyone would be on time and wouldnt have to worry about being a minute late and in return having to spend 45 minutes with Daddy because you dropped some papers in the hall or couldn't get your locker open. Of course if somone abuses there tardiness, they should receive some type of punishment. What do we do the last five minutes of class anyway? Everyone knows that when you see the clock with just five minutes left, your done paying attention and listening to the long, boring lecture that you've had to listen to the past forty minutes. Its spent packing up to make it on time to your next class. In reality this all goes back in the same circle to passing periods being extended and than we wouldnt have to pack up early for that last five minutes of class where we could be learning, or we wouldn't have to serve JUG with, as lovely as he is to spend your after school time with, Mr. Arellano when you could be studying for that big test you have tomorrow or go to soccer practice so your not late, again. Simple solution: make passing periods a couple minutes longer and avoid all the problems that being late to class causes. |
