New rules are here

It’s 2011, and the new rules are here as the interim AP of Security, Ms. Susana Giberga, takes the lead. The new regulations are keeping the deans busy; as they confiscate students’ hats, electronics, cell phones, iPods and any other item not deemed to be allowed in schools under the Chancellors’ guidelines. “They could play their music and wear their hats in the 285 suite, not in the halls or in class,” said Giberga. Many school officials feel that the students are taking advantage of the freedom given in the school. “Too many students are ignoring the rules-they know the rules and they’re taking advantage,” said Ms. Giberga. “I would hope that students could be responsible, (and) then everything would be fine.” Ms. Giberga said since Murrow has always been a high school of great expectations, it’s the best interest of everyone to avoid metal detectors. “We want to avoid metal detectors,” she said. “This is Murrow, but students have a role to play in this too.”
