Monday, March 14, 2011 By Merriel Ater

The Cleveland Youth Advisory Council is putting on a Health Awareness week from March 15-18. Organizers plan to hand out bags each day with small gifts reflecting the day’s theme. Depending on the theme the packet will include: clinic information, miniature booklets with health information, stress balls, hand sanitizer, Kleenex, Emergen-C, small recipes, tea, and many more. Tuesday, the first day, is health living day, Wednesday is healthy eating day, Thursday is emotional health and stress reduction day, and Friday is drug and alcohol prevention day. A prize table will be set up on a table between junior and senior hall near Jeff Zerba’s room. Prizes can be won by answering correctly trivia questions and games. Information about health in the form of zines and posters will be passed out as well. "I'm really excited for health awareness week because it will hopefully inform people about ways to live a healthy lifestyle. It will also show how much work the Youth Advisory Council puts toward spreading the importance of health in everyday living," said sophomore, Devon Essick. There also will be lots of food. Granola bars, mini-cupcakes, little candies, and much more. "We've been preparing for this week for awhile. It will be a big hit. Our main attraction is the food because we know students will want to participate if they get free food out of it. I'm very anxious to see how our hard work paid off," said sophomore, Keelan Booth.
