Mrs. Rost Making More Changes (april fools)

Wednesday, March 30, 2011 By Baylee Taylor

As you all know Mrs. Rost has been laying down the law. From taking out our benches, to no outside food or drinks bring brought in. Now she has made the decision to take away ALL of the soda and Gatorade machines. Due to school budget cuts, the lunch room will also be going back to just one choice. Not only have they taken away our benches, but now we’re losing our sodas, Gatorade, water, AND juices. On top of that absolutely NO teachers or clubs are allowed to sell candy to benefit our student organizations. To Mrs. Rost, these changes are our own fault. “Some of the students are abusing their privileges,” says Rost. “I tried to be nice and let them drink them during lunch, but they neglected to throw away their bottles.” Mrs. Rost also stated that she might consider bringing back the soda machines during the next school year. As for the candy issue, well, that’s to be determined. “The students will come into the middle of the hour and interrupt classes. They are interrupting other children’s learning time,” explains Rost. Candy is a major fundraising activity for FBLA, StuCo, and the Junior Class. Without candy sells, the Junior Class funds will really suffer. Although the juniors also run the concession stand, candy sells are their main source of money. A lack of money will equal a prom that is not up to par compared to past years. “If next year’s junior class can’t sell candy I don’t know what they’ll do,” says junior Shelby Lampkin. “Personally, I won’t be very happy if my prom is made of 100 balloons a mix cd.”
