Chalk Walk for Art Lovers

Tuesday, April 12, 2011 By Gaby Caloca

The Chalk Walk is back. Downtown on Market Square and Krutch Park professional artists, students, and general art lovers combined can become a part of this event. The Chalk Walk begins at 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on April 30 th , and is completely free for both artists and spectators. Anyone can take part in creating their own artwork on the sidewalks of Market Square. Artists can also make the project a collaborative piece with friends, school, or family. Last year Farragut art teacher, Hope Brashear, arranged her painting class to make a collaborative drawing of John Everett Millais’ “Ophelia”. At the end of the event honors and cash prizes are awarded to artists. Other artworks created by the participating artists can be bought for $30. The Dogwood Festival of the Arts is hoping to have another great turn out for artists and art lovers combined at this year’s Chalk Walk.
