Today, cell phones have become a necessity of life to many people in the world. On a daily basis, the cell phone is constantly cradled next to people’s heads as they talk for hours on end for social purposes and for business obligations. Although the cell phone is a pivotal invention that has changed communication in the world, the usage comes with a toll on health. In a recent study, the damages that radiation has on the brain and body are clearly spelled out. The Journal of the American Medical Association indicated that constant cell phone usage can actually alter brain activity. The amount of radiation that the device emits is unbelievable. However, it does vary with specific models. The radiation can cause cancer, decreased bone density and infertility in males. This information is not meant to scare consumers away from buying cell phones. There are many ways to side-step the dangers and still reap the maximum benefits of owning the phone. It is suggested that to avoid high amounts of radiation users should keep cell phones at a distance of about a few inches when making calls by putting the devise in speaker mode or using a wired head set. Although cell phones are a great invention, in this modern world, there are implications that come with it. Users should take caution when speaking for long amounts of time on the phone to avoid the dangers of radiation.
