Soccer’s Saving Grace

Tuesday, August 30, 2011 By John Rozmus and Tia Cheng-Wilson

Grace Zhen, a sophomore, has had a lengthy devotion to soccer lasting almost her entire school career. Starting in an elementary school program, Grace first found her love of soccer. It diminished during middle school, but returned full force once she entered high school. There are no signs that this passion will stop in the future. With the seniors gone, Grace believes that the soccer team will stay strong. She encourages everyone to join because it’s more than a game; it’s a bond that will join people. Early on, the team may seem disjointed, but as the members get to know each other, their hard work will strengthen their overall efforts. Grace hopes that this year’s season will be even better than the last, by learning from their past mistakes. In the end, she wants the team to make it to the finals of the soccer tournament and take home the banner. No doubt that Grace’s enthusiasm will spread to the rest of the players and they will have fun no matter what.
