Hawks fall to DetroitThursday, September 01, 2011 By Brittany Clark
The Hawks opened the 2011 season with a 22-0 loss to the Detroit Eagles at Lowrance Stadium on Friday, August 26. "The Hawks started off promising following the opening kickoff with their first play from scrimmage resulting in a 52-yard TD run, but unfortunately, it was called back due to a holding penalty," Head Coach Keith Cook said. The Hawks put the ball on the turf 3 times and lost 2. The Eagles put the ball on the turf 5 times, but only lost one. The Hawks got inside the Eagles' 20-yard line twice, but both times came away with no points. Offensively, the Hawks struggled with 78 yards rushing and 88 yards passing. Levi Sherrill led the Hawks with 43 yards rushing on 6 carries. Ethan Edwards completed 4 of 9 passes for 59 yards. Defensively, the Hawks were led by Chris Beall with 10 tackles.
