AHS observes Homecoming

Wednesday, October 12, 2011 By Demi Taylor and Missy Wu

It isn’t very often that schools dedicate a whole week to prepare for a game on Friday, but homecoming week does exactly that. Homecoming week is full of spirit, fun, and games. Students and teachers really enjoying dressing up along with the games. They all look forward to this week. Monday September 26th was pajama day. Many students showed up in their pajamas trying to compete with other classes. Tuesday was movie day; students picked a favorite character from a movie or a superhero and tried to dress up like them. Wednesday was class color day. Each class was assigned a color to wear to support their grade: seniors black, juniors red, sophomores blue, and freshmen yellow. Crazy day was on Thursday. The high school hallway was filled with bright, flashy colors, and crazy outfits. Last but not least, spirit day! The one day everyone is ready for; everyone wore his or her purple and green to show their school spirit. Not only did everyone dress up for spirit day, but everyone also participated in the homecoming games. Each class competed against one another. Some of the games played were tug-a-war, egg toss, volley tennis, and many more. While everyone tried their best, only one class could emerge the winner, which was the senior class, followed by the juniors, then sophomores, then freshman. The games helped get all of the students, including the football players, get ready for the big game against North Fulton. It was a pretty good game, although the Rebels took the loss. Many fans gathered to cheer on our team, and we are all proud of our boys.
