Holmes twins stymie Plymouth North defense

Friday, October 21, 2011 By Joe Brennan

With 364 rushing yards and five touchdowns between them, the efforts of the Holmes twins alone topped Plymouth North’s collective effort in a 48-20 Homecoming victory for Nauset. After PN recovered a fumble on the Warrior’s 23 yard line, it seemed imminent that the Eagles would soon be on the board, but after 20 yards of penalties on two plays, Lichota Seidewand picked off PN quarterback, Jamie Dougherty. The ensuing drive led to a 43 yard TD run by Nathan Holmes. After a costly pass interference penalty, the Warriors found themselves on their heels again. They were forced deep into their own zone until Warriors defensive end, Jamie Law, recovered a fumble. This led to a stunning 87 yard touchdown run by Derrick Holmes midway through the first quarter. It wasn’t all offense though. The Warriors’ defense forced five turnovers and sacked the PN quarterback four times, including Dakota Girard’s emphatic sack which set the Eagles back 18 yards to their own two yard line. Seidewand returned the ensuing punt to the Eagles 34 yard line. D. Holmes capped off the short drive with a 25 yard TD run. The Warriors defense allowed all 20 of PN’s points in the fourth quarter. Two other scores were added by Connor Martin and Colby Frodel to cap off the Warriors Homecoming victory.
