RHS Field Day

Friday, October 28, 2011 By RHS Nerd

Field day was full of activities and events to watch/ partake in. Traditionally the sporting events are: Volleyball, Basketball, Kickball, and Tug of War. Whereas the indoor events were Chess, Checkers, Scrabble, and Spades. The competing teams are Faculty, Seniors, Juniors, Sophomores, the freshman do not get to compete because they have not yet attributed to the school’s grade. The events which did not count were Rockband in the band room, ultimate Frisbee on the football field, and the video game competition in the ROTC building. Ultimately the faculty won due to being so adept at the indoor games, and bringing back Coach Leib, of course. The seniors came in second only winning tug of war but got second place in other sports (so they say), Juniors came in third taking first in Volleyball and Kickball, and Sophomores in last. Time for my mini rant: there should be justified and standardized rules for tug of war! As stupid as it sounds, Anchors who went first didn’t know they could rap the rope around them, there should be either everyone wearing gloves and cleats or NO ONE. I know these sound like obvious statements, but the truth is they make the biggest difference on the field (not just ranting because we lost). Coach Leib was a crucial factor in the Faculty Arsenal; he partook in each outside event utilizing all of his obvious talents but what about Coach Leib’s master card playing abilities? I propose an indoor game of Hierarchy for next year to add to the books it will provide a challenge and an interesting outcome. All and all field day was a great exception to the norm, and to all those conformists who skipped school “haters gotta hate”. I had fun rooting for my class and slandering all the others, including Faculty. CLASS OF 2013 FTW!
