Kubacak Plays it PositiveFriday, December 02, 2011 By Aspynn Kaderka
Freshman band member Quinlan Kubacak exhibits several that many bands look for in their members. “Quilan is a very positive person,” said Band Director Mrs. Lisa Musick. Kubacak has been playing trumpet in band for four years. She has a passion for playing the trumpet “The trumpet is a loud instrument, and I like being loud,” said Kubacak. Kubacak tries to be the first one ready to go when practice is starting. She stays one step ahead of everyone else to make sure she knows the pieces of music that they play. “I focus really hard, and I don’t get distracted that easily in band,” said Kubacak. “Band is where I need to be. It’s like an instinct.” Kubacak works hard to be in band. She takes her music home and practices longer than what is expected of her to ensure she knows the material. “Quinlan goes an extra mile to be on top of her skills as a musician,” said Mrs. Musick. Her hard work has earned Kubacak several awards in band. When she was in seventh grade, she received Best Brass Award. Her eighth grade year, she earned a division one rating (best possible rating) at the U.I.L. solo and ensemble concert. “Those awards drive me to continue bettering myself as a musician,” said Kubacak. She plans on playing in the band throughout her high school career. |
