Brent McNeal is a coach at South Side High School. McNeal coaches girls' basketball. “Currently we are 6-8, so we are ok, but there is work to be done,” said McNeal. Even though this is his first season with the team, McNeal believes they have shown progress even from the summer. “I teach them or try to teach them about the importance of doing the little things right. How to respect and support one another,” said McNeal. Stephanie Tipler, one of the top players averages, 14 points per game and 6 rebounds. “I believe we are one of the top teams in the district and with belief, work and support we can be where we would love to be, and that’s the top.” said McNeal. Ke’Shunan James, also one of the top players averages, 17 points a game and 7 rebounds. “We are working very hard to get where we want to be,” said James. Coach McNeal knows what it takes to win and has a set mind on what the team needs to do. “Preparation is key, understanding roles, assignments, and what we want to accomplish each day and night (practice/games). Studying your opponent to place your team in the position to win, so it’s numerous hours, days, and months,” said McNeal.
