Apps and Inspiration: Instagram provides a new lens on lifeSunday, February 12, 2012 By Sawyer A.
APPS AND INSPIRATION Instagram provides new lens on life By SAWYER A. Watertown Splash staff reporter To some people, Instagram is a social network. To others, it’s an art gallery. But for everyone, it’s a way to share thoughts, memories, and personal creativity through photos taken with your phone, iPod, or $4,000 professional camera. Instagram is a free app available on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod. It was voted one of the best apps by users in 2011 and its fan base has grown even more in 2012. It’s a popular photo-sharing site where people have profiles, personalized photo feeds, and (hopefully) lots and lots of followers. Instagram allows a person to crop photos, add borders, and play with different filters. There are features that allow you to share photos on Instagram on your Facebook or Tumblr accounts. Added captions and hashtags are optional, but good for publicity around the app. Of course, there are Instagram users who don’t post photos. For them, the app is a way to view other peoples’ art, and give feedback through liking and commenting on the photos. Lola D., an eighth-grader at Watertown Middle School, said, “I really like using Instagram. It’s a place to see real art. Some people using the app are really amazing.” Instgram is a fun, quirky, and highly recommended app that lets you share your life through the lens. --Feb. 11, 2012-- |
