Southern Door Announces Valedictorian And Salutatorian!Tuesday, February 21, 2012 By Alexis N.
Katie B. and Jana S. were announced as the 2011-2012 valedictorian and salutatorian for this year's graduating class. These two students ranked in the top two positions out of 83 students in their grade. Katie B., the 2011-2012 valedictorian, has participated in sports an still managed to succeed as the number one student in her grade. Supplying our school with a wonderful yearbook, Katie has served as our yearbook editor for the past two years. Jana S., the salutatorian, achieved this rank resulting in her delivering the salutation speech at the graduating ceremony this spring. Being salutatorian, Jana will begin the graduating ceremony as she honors her classmates for a year well done. Katie will deliver an inspiring commencement speech afterwards to the graduating class as she says farewell to her fellow students. When Katie and Jana were announced valedictorian and salutatorian, it brought up the realization that in the past ten years, only four males have been awarded this title. Three of these males were salutatorian; the only valedictorian in the past ten years being Luke Lopas, the class of 2004. |
