Special Olympians sell polar bears

The annual Oshkosh Polar Plunge took place this past Saturday, February 18. Numerous people of all ages jumped in the freezing water of Lake Winnebago to raise money for the Special Olympics. F or Chilton High School Special Olympians, this created a great chance for a fundraiser. Paper polar bears were sold for one dollar in memory of Tim Ditter, a 2011 CHS graduate and Special Olympian who passed away in December . In just one week of selling the polar bears, the group raised $351. All the money that was raised will be used to help our local Special Olympians . M r s. Bonnie Mallmann, co-instructor of CHS’s S.H.A.R.E. course in which regular education students are partnered with students with cognitive disabilities, said, “This was an amazing effort by all our students. The group hoped to come up with $100, and by Friday night, all the bears were sold . ”
