Katy Perry’s newest single “Part of Me” came with an explosive announcement at the Grammy Awards in February. One of numerous singles off of the singer’s latest album “Teenage Dream,” it is already a huge hit on the Billboard charts. Perry began her Grammy moment with a performance of her 2011 summer single “ET.” The song is rumored to be about her love for her ex-husband, Russell Brand. However, due to their split, Perry’s new single, “Part of Me,” outlines her new feelings towards their relationship and highlights a single-empowered-woman view. While the song is found on her album released prior to her split with Brand, the song fits the situation perfectly. It is rumored that the Perry-Brand split is due to Brand’s wishes for the hit singer to settle down from her party lifestyle and maybe even her career. With Katy Perry’s huge success over the past year and a half, ending her career wouldn’t make sense to anybody, thus the split. So while Brand may have been Ms. Perry’s prior out-of-this-world lover, he can’t take away the part of her that’s achieving unbounded success and her newest single reveals this perfectly. |
