Easy activities to stay healthyThursday, April 19, 2012 By Tyler Smeltz
How many summers have you spent on the couch? Want to try and be healthy over the summer? We have all been there, long summers sitting on the couch watching TV, playing video games and eating junk food. Aside from friends, many people lose their will to stay in shape because they're not around people that they want to impress. So you can take that route and sit on your butt or you can try to head down the path to being healthy. To maintain a healthy lifestyle over the summer, start by limiting your calorie intake so that you don’t gain unnecessary weight, and if you must eat junk food put it in a smaller container. If you just eat from the bag, chances are the next thing you’ll be seeing is an empty bag. Be active. You see it all the time in those "Play 60" commercials; there are so many types of activities that you will enjoy and love. My favorite activity to do in the warm weather is to run. I enjoy the relaxed feeling it gives you when you finish, and the feeling of accomplishment. Running, to many, is terrible, but it has many benefits and burns loads of calories and fat. It also makes you all around more physically fit. Another great activity to do in the warm summer weather is bike riding. Instead of taking a car, if the place you are trying to go is close enough, take a bike. With this you will save money and burn fat. Bike riding is a fun thing to do either alone or with friends and family. I’m not saying you have to devote your whole summer to being healthy. Trust me, that would not be fun. But if you exercise for 60 minutes 3 times a week, you will be on your way. I have named only two activities but these are both great exercises that will help keep you fit and you will enjoy doing. So before you hit the couch with your Lays and Twinkies, remember there’s a healthier lifestyle waiting for you outside. |
