JIL Wrestling RecapTuesday, April 24, 2012 By Kevin Davalos, Staff Writer
The 2011-2012 John I. Leonard wrestling team had an awesome and successful season. They started and ended the season practicing hard and staying very positive. The team was focused on making it to districts and working on their stability to stay on task for each individual on the team. It was hard for the new wrestlers, but they ended up doing okay. The wrestling team had to overcome a lot of challenges this year, like managing their weight and learning new moves: not to mention eating the right healthy foods. Although the wrestling team fell short in districts and was left with much to improve, they were given time to reflect on whole team. The wrestling team is constantly conditioning and practicing hard for the next season. They hope to accomplish their goal of winning districts. They started preparing for next year’s technique and have started to run and work out to be fit for the next season. The team is mostly composed of freshmen who are not as experienced as upper class men, but they are working hard and self-improving on their skills and moves. They’re trying to work more as one team, than just individually. Next season could be the time where the JIL Wrestling team shines and wins districts. |
