Discovering the arts in ChicagoTuesday, April 24, 2012 By Lauren Breedlove
On Wednesday, April 11, 2012, Art Club sponsor Mrs. Teresa Davis took the group to Chicago to visit the Art Institute, the Shedd Aquarium, and to the Bank of America Theater to watch the musical Jersey Boys. Everyone loaded the bus at 6:30 for the long ride to Chicago. The bus stopped in McLean for students to eat breakfast at either McDonalds or Subway. The first stop after arriving in Chicago was at the Shedd Aquarium. There, the students walked around the exhibits and had the opportunity to watch a whale show. After the show everyone went to the Aquarium’s cafe for lunch. The next stop on the trip was to the Art Institute where the students explored the many different styles of art throughout the centuries. Then the Art Club paid for everyone’s meal at the restaurant Exchequer, which was walking distance from the Bank of America Theater. Along the way to the restaurant students had enough time for a few shopping stops at different stores. Jersey Boys, which features the music of the Four Seasons and Frankie Valli, started at 7:30 and lasted until about 10:30. After a long day and an exciting time, everyone was ready to return home. The bus pulled back into Astoria at about 2:30 am. |
