BackpacksTuesday, April 24, 2012 By Dominique Cardenas
Living in these economic times is difficult, but that’s no reason to have to endure it alone. If you, or someone you know is having difficulty in finding a food source, you may be interested in participating in the backpack program. The backpack program was started by booster club president Bill Caldwell, and is available to any student. The program provides students with a source of food to take home. It is anonymous, and no questions are asked. To enter the program you go to any counselor and ask to participate in the program. The only thing that needs to be provided is a name. Your name will be used to keep track of the backpack that will be given to you. You will be given a backpack that has non-perishable foods, and when the food is finished the backpack can be brought back to the counselors and refilled. The program is available in Central, Holtville and Imperial and is done in cooperation with the IV food bank. If you are in interested in helping support the program donations are welcome. Money can be donated at the ASB officer by depositing money to the booster club backpack drive. If you are struggling in obtaining a food source please do not hesitate in participating in the program. It is intended to help, and it is completely anonymou |
