Movie Review: Life As We Know It

The majority of the time, “movie review” is written about a movie that was just released in theaters. This time, however, the review was written about the very cute movie Life as We Know It, which was released in 2010. The movie starts off as a blind date between Holly Berenson (Katherine Heigl) and Eric Messer (Josh Duhamel) set up by their mutual best friends Peter and Alison (Hayes MacArthur and Christina Hendricks). The date does not end well, and Holly and Eric end up not liking each other. Time passes; Peter and Alison get married, and eventually have a baby girl Sophie. Everything seems great until both Holy and Eric are called into the hospital. The two nemesis’s must band together and raise little Sophie themselves without strangling each other. They try to balance their careers and love lives while living under the same roof. Mystery Guy (Josh Lucas) finally comes into Holly’s life in a dating kind of way, and they slowly grow closer. Eric, however, doesn’t like the pediatrician hanging around Holly and Sophie. His jealousy is over-looked however, as Holly believes Eric is just a partier who enjoys late nights and getting drunk. The two must grow up in order to raise a child, and fool the social worker to believe that they are “adequate” parents. When watching this movie, I laughed, cried, and then laughed so hard that I cried. I give this movie a full five stars and recommend it to anyone that enjoys a good comedy. For anyone who wants to see this movie, he or she should rent it on buy it on DVD.
