Here’s a few more: Teen Travel Writing Scholarship Provided by : Society of American Travel Writers Award: $1000 Deadline: August 01, 2012 The Teen Travel Writing Scholarship is available to junior high and high school students between the ages of 13 and 18. To be considered, you must submit a travel blog of no more than 600 words about a personal travel experience. Write about where you went and what it meant to you, what worked and what didn't work, what you learned from the trip, or how it changed you. Bring other travelers into the world you visited. It can be funny, serious, contemplative, whatever, as long as it is informative. Your entry must also contain at least one photo, digital artwork or video and practical details about your travels. Big Dig Scholarship Provided by: Antique Trade Award: $3000 Deadline: June 01, 2012 The Big Dig Scholarship is available to high school seniors, and college freshmen and sophomores. To be considered, you must submit an essay between 500 and 1000 words that addresses the following issue: "In 200 years, one of your relatives is going to be digging in what is now your backyard. They are going to find something that you buried in 2012, and it is going to put any financial worries they have to rest. Your job today is to decide what to bury. You must submit an original video on the following topic: "Without critical changes, U.S. population is projected to reach 438 million people in less than 40 years. Capture on film how this projected growth will negatively affect the United States socially, economically and environmentally". Submissions must be between one and three minutes. You must also be a U.S. citizen to qualify for this award.
