When it's hot, short shorts aren't booty shorts Thursday, May 03, 2012 By Sara Smith
Everybody is classified by the way they act, who they hang out with, and more importantly, how they dress. While it is understandable that some shorts, are in fact, too short, some teachers go out of their way to get students in trouble. Some teachers take it to an extent where they will stop their whole lesson, to make it apparent that your shorts are too short, and send you to the office. Some teachers send you to the office if your shorts aren’t to your finger tips. But, that is not what it says in the handbook. Number 3 in the “Dress and General Appearance”section in the handbook states, “Shorts and skirts must, at a minimum, extend three inches.” So, if we get sent home for fighting and get the punishment it says in the handbook, we shouldn’t have to go home for our shorts if they aren’t to our fingertips because in the handbook it says 3 inches. There’s a fine line where “shorts” turn into “booty shorts”, but where does that line begin? “I think as long as you can’t see butt cheeks, the shorts should be fine.” Kaleen Collins ‘13 says. Being in a high school where the building is 20 degrees hotter than it is outside, girls want to wear shorts. Not shorts that come down to our knees, but short shorts. Sure, a little booty may be too much, but if your butt cheeks are covered, you should be good to go. Punishment when shorts are too short is understandable. If they show your butt, sure, cover that up. But some teachers are just taking this “short shorts dilemma” way too far. |
