women's lacrosse loses to powerhouse LincolnThursday, May 03, 2012 By Molly Henninger
Cleveland lost to Lincoln women’s lacrosse team on Wednesday, April 11. The Cardinals dominated the game, winning 17-9. Cleveland competed with the team, holding on to a slim margin until the second half. Lincoln is a top team in lacrosse, and a favorite to win state this year. While Cleveland has the potential to match the top team, the skill wasn’t there this game. “Our passes weren’t falling and we weren’t really communicating,” said senior Kate Romanaggi. Some patterns and skills that Cleveland wants to follow suit in of the Cardinals team is their transition from offense to defense and pushing the ball up. Lincoln’s midfield excels in getting their midfield up, making it hard to defend and also allows more scoring opportunities for them. With the halfway mark just past the Warriors, the team is re-evaluating its position and how they can finish off the season strong. “The skill level is there, but putting it together is what we struggle with,” continued Romanaggi. This problem seems to be a problem for the Warriors, and the cause for multiple losses, dropping them to a 1-16 record. Coming onto the second half of the season, the Warriors are looking forward to playing the teams a second time, now that they now how these teams play. Losses to Grant and Hood River were disappointing losses, and the team hopes to come back and win those ones. |
