Musical AftermathThursday, May 03, 2012 By Alissa West
Hearts pound, palms sweat, and minds race to remember every line they speak. Inspirational speeches are given, traditions for “good-luck” are accomplished, and feet scurry up to the stage. Dances are in sync, songs are sung, and lines have been spoken. Now, tears are shed, hugs are given, and new friendships will never be broken. After spending about three months together, every day of every week, Garaway's Drama Department has completed its spring musical “Disney's Beauty and the Beast”. Saying good-bye to all of the senior cast and crew was heart breaking, but all of the memories we've made will never be forgotten. When asked what her best memory of the entire musical experience was, senior Raennon Troyer replied, “The best memory for me was definitely when everyone was on the stage singing “tale as old as time...” for the last time, because all of our hard work had paid off but it was kind of sad because it was over.” For the foreign exchange student from Belgium, Oriane Simon, this experience was life changing. “First of all, and most importantly, it's life changing because of all of the people I met. They completely changed my life and my vision of it. Second, I learned a lot about myself and I know that I can do things I can be proud of.” For most people, this musical wasn't a typical musical. Everyone became a big family by the end and the halls of Garaway are still filled with laughter and funny memories of an unforgettable experience. |
