The Hawkeye
To the Class of 2012 and BetweenFriday, May 04, 2012 By Amanda Alarcon
The end of the semester is starting to break the surface and summer is almost in our grasps. For many, the end of school is well needed after a stressful semester has sailed by. But for some, this is the end of our high school careers. Nearly four years ago, we walked through these doors with anticipation, fear and a high from the unknown that lay ahead. We were young and clueless about how life changing high school really would be for us. Now four years later, these same feelings of anticipation, fear and excitement are felt by all, as we ready ourselves to embark on our newest adventures after high school. In August, I wrote in my first editorial as Editor-in-Chief of the Hawkeye that I hoped everyone would make this year wonderful and one to never forget. I feel that we have. We screamed our blue painted faces off at games, tied together when we lost a fellow Hawk, pushed each other to excel in all areas and were there for each other through the good times and bad. Everyone made their year special and memorable, regardless of what grade they are in. Seniors especially made it count. We now have senior celebration and luncheon coming up. Baccalaureate will closely follow, finally ending with the most anticipated event of high school: graduation. To the freshmen, sophomore and juniors, enjoy the high school experience. It goes by with the blink of an eye and you will take these four years with you the rest of your lives. To the seniors, I am sad that our senior year is almost over, but I am so joyous with how many wonderful opportunities and adventures that lay ahead for all of us. For many, we go to further our studies at college. Others are preparing to go into our military to defend the country like so many before them. Some are just beginning to figure out what they would like to do for the rest of their lives. Whatever you may do, remember that this is the beginning of the rest of our lives. We will still make mistakes, learn even more and grow as individuals. I am so proud of each one of us. Enjoy our last few weeks of high school and make everyday count. You only live once (YOLO!). Class of 2012, congratulations. We did it. Yours truly, Amanda Alarcon |
