The Whitman Word
Jungle Fantasy comes back to WhitmanMonday, May 07, 2012 By Sadie Burgess, Staff Writer
Mrs. Poplasky put on a Middle School production of her long lost baby, Jungle Fantasy , written by Neil Goldberg on April 27 th - 28 th at the Middle School Café Stage. The cast includes: Hannah Boothe as the Jungle Queen, Cody Bassett as The Bongly Tribe Chief, Russell Lisk as The Witch Doctor, Isaac Scott as Gus, Chris Chermak as McBurleigh, Cierra Durso as Lady Violet Peebles, Charlotte Mineo as Edith Clutterbuck, Justin Boyer as Edward Clutterbuck, Nolan Yarger as Charles, Samantha Abel as Jane, and Remi Hullings as Tartan. The old legend tells of a tribe of females living in the deep, dark heart of the jungle, led by the fearless Jungle Queen. They guard a secret known only to them, the monkeys, and to the fun loving Bongly Tribe. Oh, and of course, Charles would know - he’s the Oxford-educated ape and if he knows, then his friend Tartan would know and then so would Jane (Tartan’s no-nonsense friend). The film maker making a new version of King Kong doesn’t want to know. When strangers from the big bird in the sky drop in, it seems that the whole world is about to know...or so the story goes... This show features very strong girls’ roles (four major and four minor) and good male roles, too (four major and one minor) and many other non-specific roles. Exciting, contemporary rock music by the talented composer Don Woodward will thrill and the stunning musical opening, which tells the legend is a sensation! This show was quite the entertainment for all ages and it had people laughing out of their seats. |
