'Warm, compassionate' Flaherty retiring

Thursday, May 17, 2012 By Blake Hester, Staff Reporter

After being with Trinity for 10 years, Mrs. Jean Flaherty, administrative assistant for alumni relations, has decided to retire at the end of the current school year. Flaherty, whose son Brandon graduated from Trinity in 2004, helped with keeping alumni informed about Trinity through newsletters. She also helped set up for Trinity’s alumni reunions. After 20 years with the General Motor Acceptance Corporation doing customer service, Flaherty became a teacher's assistant at St. Barnabas before coming to Trinity in 2002. Flaherty wore many hats at Trinity, serving as administrative assistant to the director in Trinity's theater program, working on planning, ordering materials and ticket sales. “The relationship with the kids was more in depth than (sitting behind a desk),” said Flaherty about working with the students in the theater program. Flaherty decided to retire to help care for her grandchild, but she said, “I will volunteer (at Trinity) when needed.” “She is a warm and compassionate person,” said Mrs. Mickey Englebrecht, assistant in Trinity's Student Affairs Office. “We have enjoyed the time we spent with her.”
