Soccer wins at Clinton High

Thursday, May 17, 2012 By Hannah Holzhueter

For the past five years, soccer has been a sport at Lakeside. Last Saturday, the Lady Warriors competed in a tournament at Clinton High School. The girls faced three different teams: Palmyra, Clinton, and Jefferson. The first game started off with a battle against Palmyra. Both teams battled hard and ended the game in a tie of 0-0. In the second game, the Warriors scored a goal off of a free kick made by Junior Cherith Holzhueter. The goal ended up winning the game 1-0 against Clinton. The third game was a great finish for the day against Jefferson. Junior Abby Reimer scored the game winning goal in the second half, with the game ending at 1-0. After the three games, the team received a plaque for winning the entire tournament. This was a first for Warrior Girls’ soccer team. They celebrated at the end by posing for pictures and eating out at Culver’s. Both coaches, PC and Josh Vinluan, were very proud of the girls and how they played in the tournament. Congrats to the Lady Warriors on their win!
