Each one resulting in more and more money spent on treatment to fix the school. The class of 2011 decided that their senior prank would include graffitiing the high school about campus. The field house, the main clock tower, the band room, and the water tank all were covered with black spray paint. The consequence of their acts resulted in their senior breakfast being taken away and other senior activities as well. At the beginning of the 2011-2012 school year, Chaparral High School was vandalized once again, but this time, to a larger extent. Many exterior windows of the high school were broken and that allowed the delinquents to enter the school and damage the interior of Chaparral High School. Computers were destroyed and a hole was punched through the wall of the library. Also, windows were broken in the main hallway of the high school. This damage cost the school even more money than the previous act of vandalism. On the morning of May 24, 2012, teachers and students arrived only to realize that the campus had been vandalized yet again. This time, the school was riddled with egg yolks and motor oil. Quotes such as “Seniors Class of 2012” could be found tagged on various parts of the school. Sections of the exterior of the school had to be closed off due to the immense damage done. You would think that maybe people would have learned that vandalizing was not a very good thing to do, but obviously that is not the case. “I had prayed that they learned from last year because a lot of things were taken away from the class of 2011,” said Christina Montoya, the 2012 senior class sponsor. “As disappointed as I am, I can’t blame all of them. Every class has some bad apples.” People need to realize that vandalizing the school is not funny, cool, or even original. All they cause is more trouble for the school and for everybody to remember their class not for the good, but for the bad. If they are going to come up with a senior prank, make one that is classy and won’t deface the school. Students need to grow up and realize that what they did or are going to do is senseless. Instead of ruining something that provided you with education, you should try and better it. How would you feel if someone damaged your home?
