Swiming and Diving team ends year strong with athletes getting top marks at section finalsFriday, May 25, 2012 By Paloma Sanchez
By Paloma Sanchez Staff Reporter After four years of diving, Tracy High senior Erich Hutchinson achieved his best performance. Hutchinson finished third at the Sac-Joaquin Section Southern trials and eighth at section finals with his top marks. “This was actually really awesome. I did good, and set my own record and getting third,” Hutchison said. May 1, he was one of five of Tracy high’s swimming and diving athletes who competed in the Sac-Joaquin Section championship meet at Tokay High with swimmers setting personal records. Devin Brown (varsity boy) and Miguel Munoz (junior varsity boy) also swam personal best times in their events. Brown swam at 54.99 for the 100 butterfly stoke, and 59.22 for the 100 backstroke . Munoz scored a 1:06.71 for the 100 breaststroke. James Thompson, a junior, placed fourth and set a new school record in the 200-yard freestyle championship race with a time of 1:42.05. “I’m really proud with what I did, I got a second faster than trials and qualified for the championship race, that was cool,” Thompson said. Ella Green, a senior, broke her owns school record in the 50-yeard freestyle with a time of 25.50, and came in first in trials. “I thought I did really well every race,” Green said, coaches agreed. “I think we wrapped up the year really well, and I’m proud of them,” Dominique Banner, Diving coach, said. |
