Mission Complete: Now Go Enjoy YourselvesWednesday, May 30, 2012 By Mainstream
It is never easy to say goodbye, and this year is no different. While this year’s senior Mainstream group is the final group to ever make their mark in the original Mainstream office, to be " the last ones in the old Paint Branch," (I am so tired of that phrase) their mark does not end there. They have, in fact, already made their mark on the new Paint Branch. (No, they didn’t sneak into the new building and "make their mark" on the new journalism office - or maybe they did...we’ll have to wait and see). They made their mark by continuing and enhancing a strong tradition of writing, editing, and publishing that will not be forgotten. Whether it was through a simple news piece that informed readers or a feature that dug deep into a topic or an opinion that forced readers to think deeply on a topic, they made their mark. They made their mark by attending games, watching performances, asking questions, and making hard choices. And now it is time for them to make their mark elsewhere. To each of you: Thank you for all of your hard work, for all of your dedication, for all of your ideas, for all of your desire to make Mainstream not only a great newspaper, but also a great place to be. We know that you are all off to bigger and, perhaps, better things - but we remind you to come back and see us, keep in mind what you helped to create here, and trust in us that we will do our best to pick up where you left off. Congratulations on your graduation, good luck, and enjoy each moment in your journey.
