Pembroke High Octopi are playing for the love of the game

Wednesday, May 30, 2012 By Hannah Higgins

This spring, high school teens have been meeting up behind Hobomock for Ultimate Frisbee. They have a full schedule of games versus teams from Weymouth, Abington, Silver Lake, Scituate, and B-R. With their new banner displayed proudly along the fence at the Hobomock field, they take up the soccer fields every nice day this spring. Juniors Bay and Jane Edwards helped organize the group and their dad Skip Aluisy takes his position as the ‘coach’, but Spanish teacher, Mike Lesniak has helped a great amount for the group by organizing games and coming to every practice. The name Octopi was the idea of James Walsh. However, the whole team voted on the name because it was one of the only names they could agree on. Although they have yet to win a game, they are havving fun by playing for the spirit of the game. Jane Edwards said, “We are getting better. Our team motto is actually ,’Suck less!’”
