Voices behind the Curtain

Friday, June 01, 2012 By Sarah Spencer

The morning can be mundane. However, with Jon Doucette and Meredith Cellini doing school announcements, school news has never sounded better. With the school year coming to a close I figured now would be a good time to catch up with the morning announcers. What was your favorite part about doing the morning announcements?: Meredith Cellini: Spending time in the office with the secretaries and always knowing what [is] going on in the school. Jon Doucette: Being able to start everyone’s day off with my voice. It’s a glorious thing. What’s one thing you wish you could’ve added to the morning announcements?: MC : Guest speakers every Friday, joke of the day, and better alliterations. JD : Sound effects— mad sound effects Were you nervous about your first few times doing the announcements? Do you still get nervous every time you do them? MC : I was actually very nervous at first. I don’t get nervous [now] unless I fumble a word. JD : I don’t think I’ve been more nervous in my entire life, especially since Meredith didn’t show up at first. And no, I don’t get nervous anymore. What advice do you have for future morning announcers? MC : Have fun with it! This is your chance to shine and put your spin on the morning each day. JD : READ SLOW! You won’t mess up. Is there a celebrity/athlete that you dream of co-hosting morning announcements with? Who and why? MC : I love doing them with Jon. But if I had to choose someone, I would pick Khloe Kardashian JD: Jack Black. Name two teachers that you think would be perfect to do the morning announcements MC: Mr. Crain and Ms. Salvetti JD : If I could listen to Mr. Shannon’s voice over the announcements every day, I’d be cool with that.
