Utah. Church of the Latter-Day Saints. Polygamy. These words all stem from a religion that has been around since 1830, accumulating around 12.2 million followers worldwide. Although many believed Mormons originated in Utah, they actually came from Fayette, New York. While Utah is notorious for having the most practicing Mormons, other states have them as well, including Maryland. “Being a Mormon means belonging to a religion based on purity, chastity, and eternal families,” said Nick Wilson, a practicing Mormon at North Harford. Despite the fact that most Mormons practice polygamy, some do not. “We do not practice polygamy, a lot of people thing that we do, but we do not. I have one mother and one father,” said Grace Wilson, also a practicing Mormon.
