New Records Made for RHS Track Athletes

Monday, June 04, 2012 By Liz Vasquez

Last week, Rocklin’s Track and Field team went through the section championships with the Varsity Girls team finishing second and the Varsity Boys team finishing at third. Those two teams not only continued onto the Masters meet on Thursday, May 24 and Friday, May 25, but some of the athletes have gotten a new school record. Elyse Rowen (4x100 and 4x400 relay), Baylor Hogan and Christina Dyok all made new school records, each in a different sections. Leondro Praseli made third in high jump and Natalie Cartan made eighth in long jump. Chris Vanliew made third in shot put while Jamie Curtis made eleventh, as well, Vanliew also made second in discus. On the subject of pole vaulting, Conner Besmer made second! But let’s not forget the runners. On the 100m, Liesl Shirhall made third as well as first in the 200m. On the 400m, Baylor Hogan made sixth (making a new school record). On the 800m, Ryan Jones made third and in the Boys 4x400, Marvin Gardner, Ales Devereaux, Leondro Praseli, and Ryan Jones made third. George Miao made ninth in the two mile and in the 100 hurdles, Natalie Cartan made fifth while Christina Dyok made fourth (making a new school record). And as the two teams competed at Masters for the chance to go to the State Championships, maybe they won’t only bring home new experiences, but maybe some more school records as well.
