Soccer: the game of lifeMonday, June 04, 2012 By Devyn Fields
Soccer Soccer is a sport that I love. In this article I will explain the ups, downs, and rules of this game. As I have said, soccer is one of my main sports, I was bred for it, and I have grown up training. I believe I started playing at age five, and ever since my first game (I took an elbow to the face), I’ve sort of become a madman, but soccer is a sport where training always helps, whether your shooting, passing, or just plain free-kicking, you can always be better. Lots of people play soccer like any other sport. Now let’s talk about the rules. A traditional game will last about ninety minutes, and each team will switch sides at the forty-five minute mark, this is known as half-time. If no one wins at the end of the game, a draw can be called, or players can play for another thirty minutes. Each side of the field has a goal and boundaries. If the ball goes out of the boundaries, the team that didn’t let the ball go out, gets to throw the ball into the field. You must get the ball into the goal without using your hands. There are only eight players on each team allowed on the field; two forwards, three middles, two defenders, and one goalie. Each of these players has a specific duty. The forwards must get the ball into the goal, but the mids must get the ball to the forwards, the defenders must protect the goalie, and the goalie defends the goal. Goalie can use their hands, but only in a secluded box marked with white paint. To be good at soccer, you need to train, so set up a schedule for training, and practice lots of drills like footwork and other things. Try and take on the defenders, and become a match winner! Anyone can be a soccer player, but it takes determination, skill, lots of training, and great sportsmanship. It is a fun game that requires the most of a player, while still allowing you to have fun and be fun |
